We went to Music 4point5 this week to see what else is going on out in music-land.
The whole thing had a great vibe. Less suits and more a genuinely passionate room full of creative people who had something to say on how new tech can make the music industry a better place.
It was good to have our thoughts confirmed. New apps need to level the playing field for artists by providing pro-level tools that make the business of music work for them. It’s the fan-artist relationship that counts.
We hope 10Tribes will fit nicely in to this new world; in a brave new ecosystem of apps that happily talk to each other and exchange data for the benefit of artists and fans.
We were particularly impressed with the likes of Topspin and BandCentral. We also met loads of interesting and inspiring people – hello to Green House Group. And, hopefully, 10Tribes will have a presence at the next Music4point5 – sometime in November.
Congrats to 2pears for a great conference!
Ok .. we won’t go in to too much detail just yet, but we can tell you that 10Tribes lets music fans login and interact with artists direct – both via the web and an iPhone app that synchs with your web account.
Through 10Tribes we hope to bring the fan and the artist closer together, where music fans get a tailored digest of the stuff they like direct to their computer and iPhone. Through a variety of great features, artists and fans can ‘talk’ to each other. Artists can see who their biggest fans are – not just on 10Tribes but helpfully for instance, around the gig venue they might be playing that night.
So, that’s a little bit about what we’re up to. We hope 10Tribes can go someway to keeping talent and creativity alive … democratising great music for all. We’ll be putting up some screenshots soon!
First day back in the studio for Captive Minds after the break, watered and rested and ready to crack on with 2010. After 14 months of development it’s not long now until we launch 10Tribes – we’ll be confirming the final launch date over the next week or so. It’s been a great journey and for all those great people we’ve met who’ve given us advice, feedback and a helping hand along the way – big thanks!
In the meantime, keep checking back on this blog for sneak previews of 10Tribes and more news as we draw closer to launch.
